The Power of Truth in a Sinful World

My words are life to those who find them Proverbs 4:20-22

As I hold my Bible in my hands, I can't help but be amazed at the power in it. Not just words on a page, wise theories or entertainment...but words of great consequence from our Creator to us. Somehow these words that were written ages ago, are never late. They lift off the page at just the right time. They show me God's heart, move me to trust His tried and true character, they make my crooked paths straight, satisfy my heart and set my feet on fire. They give me peace about what was and joy for what is to come. Have you too found life in these pages?

One of my favorite verses is Proverbs 4:20-22 "My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one's whole body."

A book we should guard and treasure! Yet throughout the ages, many have stood in defiance of the Bible, emperors and philosophers have tried to destroy it, culture has tried to modify it, others ignore parts of it, some add to it, many misinterpret it, and others seek to add their agenda to it. YET, THE BIBLE STILL STANDS. It was the Truth, it is the Truth and will be the Truth to come. God does not change and He will never act in contradiction to His Word.

What deeply concerns me today however, is how many christians have weakened their grip on this pillar of Truth. They fail to read their Bible, fail to interpret scripture in context and in light of other scripture and fail to use it as their "Truth filter". Many are too willing to accept what men say, their unique revelations and theories, they bend to what's popular or go after what makes them feel good. Satan is crafty, if he can can taint the Truth just a little, then he succeeds.

I hope you're with me when I say... I want this Book to move me, to be my compass, to be my source of life and purpose for His glory and not my own. God's Words were, and still are the life we're searching for.

Go find them.
